A month long celebration of Greensboro Ballet's annual production of The Nutcracker with special ticket deals, fun contests, special related outreach activities, and more!

July 12-30: Nutcracker T-shirt Design Contest - Winner Announced on 31st

July 14-18, 9am-Noon: Sugar Plum Fairy Children’s Summer Workshop for Ages 3-6 - at SGB (School of Greensboro Ballet). Register online at: www.greensboroballet.org/summer-registration

July 19, 9am-4pm (Storytime is at 11AM): Barnes & Noble Book Fair fundraising event. Clara will read The Nutcracker during Storytime at 11am. Meet characters from The Nutcracker all day. Optional: use our voucher at check-out and Greensboro Ballet will receive a portion of your purchase. Event at Friendly Center's Barnes & Noble.

July 21-25, 9:30am-2:00pm: The Nutcracker Elementary Workshop for Ages 7-10 - at SGB. Register online at: www.greensboroballet.org/summer-registration

July 26, 2-3pm: Nutcracker Storytime & Dance Demo with Clara & Uncle Drosselmeyer - at the Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum. Free with your Museum entrance fee.

July 1-31: Donate $50 or more this month towards our New Snowflake Costumes Project. Help us reach our goal of $5,000 for these gorgeous new tutu skirts! See details below.

Nutcracker T-Shirt Design Contest

Greensboro Ballet will take design submissions for its 2025 Nutcracker T-shirt from July 12-30, 2025 with the winner being announced on July 31st!

Winner will receive 2 Nutcracker T-shirts imprinted with their winning design and 6 tickets to any of our 2025 performances of The Nutcracker.

Design Requirements:

1. Open to both children and adults.

2. Open to both amateurs and professional artists.

3. Part of the design MUST include some original artwork.

4. Please limit design to a max of two colors (including either white or black).

5. You can suggest a shirt color, but the Ballet reserves the right to choose the color of the T-shirt your design will be printed on.

6. Design must be submitted to Jennifer Gentry at executivedirector@greensboroballet.org by 5pm on July 30, 2025.

7. Previous T-shirt Design winners are excluded from submitting a design.

Ideas: Simple is always better when it comes to T-shirt Design (easier to print/read, etc.).

Snowflake Costume Project

Greensboro Ballet was thrilled to be able to add live music to our performances of The Nutcracker this past December (2024) with our new Nutcracker Orchestra. We wish to continue to grow in every aspect of artistry that involves our beloved holiday production.

With that in mind, Greensboro Ballet is proud to announce the Snowflake Costumes Project - to create 20 new costumes in the next two years! This summer, we will begin Part 1 of this project with the creation of 20 new tutu skirts.

The cost for each skirt is estimated to be $250 each, at a total cost of $5,000.

As part of this summer's Clara's Christmas in July, we are raising funds for this special Nutcracker-related project by asking our donors, friends, and community supporters to donate $50 to help us meet our goal. If we can get 100 people to donate $50, then we will have met our $5,000 fundraising goal for these gorgeous new tutu skirts (to be premiered at this December's performances).
