featuring The Firebird and Aurora’s Wedding from The Sleeping Beauty

Experience a world of magic, wonder, and timeless storytelling with Fire & Fairy Tales, Greensboro Ballet’s spectacular spring production of its 60th Anniversary Diamond Season.

This enchanting program brings together two beloved masterpieces of classical ballet, each set to iconic scores by legendary composers.

The performance opens with The Firebird, featuring the powerful and evocative music of composer Igor Stravinsky. Inspired by Russian folklore, the ballet tells the story of Prince Ivan, whose encounter with the mystical Firebird leads him into a battle against the evil sorcerer Kashchei. Filled with dazzling movement, mythical creatures, and heroic adventure, this dynamic production will be choreographed by acclaimed guest choreographer and Regional Dance America President, Mary LeGere.

The evening concludes with Aurora’s Wedding from The Sleeping Beauty, featuring the glorious music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This beloved fairytale celebration follows Princess Aurora’s joyful wedding festivities and showcases some of classical ballet’s most treasured moments, including appearances by beloved fairytale characters and the grandeur of a royal court celebration.
